As we usher in the New Year, we reflect on the meaningful journey of ArutKudumbam throughout 2023. Your generosity, willingness to extend a helping hand, and the trust you’ve placed in us to carry out this service are deeply humbling.
The collective contribution of $60,000 that you and others have made has empowered us to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
Through project ArutKanji, partnering with individuals and small grassroots outfits operating at the community level, we have been able to provide daily sustenance and alleviate hunger in fifty-one rural locations across South India. The beneficiaries encompass a diverse group, including the elderly, individuals receiving medical care in government hospitals, residents of orphanages, students, and daily wage workers. Through the provision of essentials such as 79,326 kg of rice, 307 kg of pepper, 461 kg of cumin, 291 kg of fenugreek, 3,050 kg of green dal, and 220 kg of turmeric, we have contributed to preparing approximately four thousand meals per day in the form of nourishing kanji (porridge).
Project ArutKalvi, a key initiative, has been dedicated to supporting first-generation students in pursuing higher education post high school. We are proud to share that our ArutKalvi family has grown to twenty-nine students, with fifteen successfully graduating over the past two years. Their achievements span a range of disciplines, including Medicine, Bio Medical Engineering, Catering Technology, Computer Science, Commerce, Literature, Physics and Mathematics. Our commitment goes beyond financial support and includes mentorship, career counseling, psychological assistance, volunteering and a platform for students to connect, fostering a sense of kinship that we hope will endure a lifetime, in line with the vision of ArutKudumbam.
Looking ahead to 2024, we aim to expand our impact through Project ArulNalam, focusing on providing healthcare in the rural areas we serve.
We are grateful for the collaboration with partners such as EKAM Foundation and Friends Education Charitable Trust (FECT), whose support strengthens our mission.
While our donor base may be modest, consisting of around 50 individuals, we believe that each contribution comes from the heart, making you an integral part of the ArutKudumbam family. Ninety-seven cents of each dollar directly contribute to supporting those in need. There is an increased demand within the community we support, driven by a high inflation rate and persistent socio-economic challenges.
